Organic Breakfast

Choice Hotels are proud of WeCare. We do care! About the guests, the environment and each other. We take responsibility and lead. This is why we have launched the first ever organic breakfast.

In August 2007, Choice Hotels conducted a representative selected study into organic food and eating habits throughout Norway, Sweden and Denmark. The result of this Scandinavian study shows that the majority have a positive attitude to organic food and the increased availability of organic products.

85% of the participants would like to buy organic products and many said that they already bought organic food instead of conventional food items due to animal welfare, the environment and their own health.

Although the knowledge of which hotel chains offer organic produce or a healthier eating option currently is quite low, 40% responded that they were willing to pay more to stay in a hotel where organic food is on offer. 60% are willing to pay more for a restaurant meal made from organic produce.

This is why we are the first!

The study showed that organic food is important to our guests. Choice Hotels have built their reputation on the expectation of their guests and therefore we are the first ever hotel chain to offer organic breakfasts in all our hotels. We want to serve our guests the healthiest and the best breakfast and to contribute to the increased demand for organic food.

Our breakfast offer shall at all times be fulfilling. That is to say that there must be organic alternatives to bread, drinks, egg, breakfast cereals, coffee and cold cuts. Our guests should be fully satisfied by eating a breakfast consisting of nothing but organic produce.

Why organic?

Organic food is important with regard to animal welfare, the environment and personal health. Organic produce are produced naturally and with a minimal use of additives. The natural behaviour and needs of animals are taken into consideration as much as possible and the processes of nature itself are central to the production of animal feed, compost and fertilizer.

The production of organic food is better for the environment that conventional food production. This is because it has lower energy consumption and a lack of the use of inorganic fertilizer and sprays and therefore contributes less to greenhouse emissions of carbon dioxide and gasses.
